  1. yes

  2. Martial arts are great for exercise and practically anything else, I'm not exaclty sure which one you would prefer since there hundreds maybe even thousands of style, but if you try looking in your area i'm sure you'll find one that you'll like.

And even though your looking for a hobby martial arts may become even more.

  3. Ya it is a very good hobby. It can help u stay in shape, make you stronger, helps defend yourself, and have fun!

  4. now martial arts is good for self defense not hobby, a hobby is a activity where you can have fun.....

  5. Just take normal karate. Maybe you should do yoga though. Noy saying that karate is bad, but yoga can make you very flexible, and you can learn to do splits, backbends and many other things. This is probably not what you wanted to hear, its just a suggestion.

  6. Just proved my point for me Mgina thank you very much .... it's never a lifestyle for those that have no clue .... hence the common MMA hobby kit!!! and I don't mean you on any of this Mgina because you're simply asking the question, but a few of these answers p**s me off.

http://fightzoo.com/index.php?do=/public... a blog on which I just stated where I stood on this this very subject that I posted two days ago ....thanks for backing me up on that folks .... I kind of knew you all just wouldn't be able to help your selves.... hehehehe.

Katana17 knows the score as well as the rest of the real practitioners in here.

  7. absolutely, martial arts is great for so many things.    Not to mention I believe that all girls/woman should have some self defense especially in today's world.

  8. h**l yes i went to a karate school and now i  am the buffest person in marietta

  9. Oh My!!

Martial Arts and "hobby" should not be used in the same sentence, unless it reads: LOL!!! martial arts are your hobby?? OMG!! LOL!!!

    I'm being an a s s h o l e, but I just want to make a point... if you want a hobby, take up knitting.

If you want to transform your life, find a good martial arts instructor and surrender your time to the art.

Be loyal to yourself and you will excel in all your endeavors.

  10. It's a very good hobby, Try Karate.

  11. It is by far the best hobby in the world. It is one of the few athletic hobbies that you can do the rest of your life. Long after your friends have to give up tennis and jogging you will still be able to do martial arts.  I recommend any art where you can find a good school. Shop for a school rather than a specific art. Stay away of the more obscure arts the scream bulshido.

    Edit:

For the sake of Katana et all:

Well I happy to see you take Martial Arts seriously. It is my position anyone can benifit from training. Not everyone who trains is a serrious fighter / pratisioner. Some are into it for the side benifits of improved health mental wellbeing etc.

    Go for it.

  12. Martial arts is a great hobbie. It is good for you're self esteem and you feel safer when you go places. It gets you set on maintaining a goal, which is to get you're next belt. It is always good to have some sort of goal. I highly reccomend it. Some types of martial arts are Karate, Kung Fu, Judo, Tia Chi, Wed Do, and Aiki. Hope this is helpful!

  13. Karate! The uniform will cover each part of you,, since you are a very shy person,, have fun sparing

  14. Yes , Just don't use it on your b friend

  15. Quite honestly if you want to treat it as a hobby you ight as well save your time and money, for what you will get out of it.

Martial arts in order to be valuble has to be incorperated into your life in one form or another, Whether it is finding confidence in yourself, or learning how to defend yourself, it must be taken seriously as more then a hobby. There is a line in the karate kid (1 or 2) where daniel nd Mr. Miyagi are standing by the road and Miyagi points to one side and says Karate yes, then the other side and says Karate no. Stand in middle get flattened,

Meaning if you think you can play arouns with it and get ore thena surface understanding, and be able to defend yourself, you are deluding yourself.

  16. Yes, it would boost your fitness along with many other mental emotions, so I say YA go for it!

  17. No! Martial Arts is too serious to be taken as lightly as a hobby. If it is decided upon to take up martial arts one should be ready to dedicate his or her entire life to perfecting their skills and life outlook. You need not be athletic.. you need to be dedicated and determined, humble but confidant, eager, but not cocky and above all objective and open minded.

  18. I would suggest one of the "Olympic martial arts":

    Judo

    Karate

    Taekwondo

    Wushu.

Karate and Wushu are not in the Olympic Games yet, but they are under consideration.

Another martial art to consider is Japanese Jiu Jutsu. (A good "secret weapon" if you happen to live in the city.)

Tai Chi can either practiced as exercise, or martial art depending on which school you go to.

  19. O my gosh yes, I'm am/was the exact same way, but I started tae kwon do last November and I love it! I've come out of my shell so much and gained so much confidence! And I have a blast doing it! it helps your mind body and soul, and im only a yellow belt

  20. depending on the style you choose it can be a great HOBBY...tai chi...softer style kung fu probably less pain involved..however if your looking to keep bussy and gain technique and possibly rank without having to participate in tournaments and fighting choose karate wisely

  21. It's great!  Ive lost weight learned a lot and made friends
