  1. You have to have a solid background in math. In pharmacology you will have to be proficient in conversion.


  2. Not only will you be doing conversions, but proficiency in Chemistry is required.  Chemistry involves math skills.

    But the branch of math involved includes advance calculations in probability, calculus and differential equations.

    These disciplines are used for balancing the organic and inorganic reaction equations, most of the time, after that they are tested in the laboratory to confirm the theory, by matching the theoretical result, in at least under well controlled laboratory condition.

    To day there are softwares available called "mathlab" (Mathematical laboratory, and many  other specific programs), to quickly do the trial and error type advance calculations.
