We travelled to cuba towards the end of may and the weather was fantastic it was really hot during the day and then in the afternoon a light breeze. We had one storm in the evening towards the end of the fortnight but it only lasted a hour or so.

any time after june is hurricane season so I would go before june unless you want to take the risk

Yes, especially if you're American. If you're American, you can't even go to Cuba.

Not at all it's a great time to go; hot days, warm waters,  cooler evenings and the rates are lower than the winter.  The site below will give you past temperatures.
