the Mayan calender was used to tell when doomsday was unfortunately no it is not used now in days i believed the given date has passed.

mayan calendars are not in usage.as one told,it was used to specify the dooms day (or they say so).it's not in use rite now but the dooms day is expected by dec 2012.its intresting.jus visit 2012videos.com for more info...!

In Mesoamerica (Southern half of Mexico to Honduras, through Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador) 'Maya' civilization prospered till almost 2 centuries before Columbus' discovery and the Spanish conquistadores pillaged the area. To call the people of new world as 'Indians' is idiocy. Historically recording thas as fact is Western stupidity.The name 'Maya' is so enticingly (Asian) Indian but had nothing to do with India.

They had a language and well-developed script. For anything in their religion & rites(gruesome human sacrifices) the basis was astronomy. They had better mastery over it, compared to their contemporary Europeans

So, by no stretch of imagination one can surmise that world would follow this obsolete calender confined to an ancient, extinct civilization lying undiscovered till about 5 centuries back. Discovery is always a European phenomena as they are the people who start off with pfe-conceived errors and correct them later. The world over, 'Gregorian' solar calender is followed. Mayan calender is a relic.

Maybe we do use the Gregorian Calendar, but in reality, the mayan calendar has the exact days of today's calendar. (Well, the solar mayan calendar.)
