He would chose this woman, because she has a sort of a 'maverick' reputation...she appeals to the conservatives of the party, and as a woman, she will help take some of the 'first ever' 'landmark' 'milestone' titles away from Obama (and get votes that may have gone for Hillary).

All in all, a surprising choice, one that really upset the Republican 'leaders'. I'm also surprised that McCain didn't pick some insider like Biden to be his running mate. It make it a lot more interesting now with Palin in the mix, doesn't it?

He chose a woman to get the women votes Hillary would have had.

I don't like the guy but that was a tricky move on his part. Vote black or vote female. Good political move I must admit.
