I screwed up my freshman year in college and did horribly in my bio and calc classes(1.7/4.0 in both). is med school completely out of the question? (even at a state med school) Please give me some help/advice! I am feeling really low right now and just want to know if i should focus my energy on a different goal/interest. Have I blown my chance at admission into a medical school??

*i do particularly well on standardized tests, does that have any weight at all?*

  1. If you really want to go to Med school, then it isn't out of the question. Just think about whether or not you really want to learn all of that bio and chem. If you think you really can, then continue to go for it!

  2. No it is not out of the question just keep in mind that you need to retake these classes and that med schools (MD schools) avg retakes together.  (ie.avg A and F together)

    Visit studentdocnetworkforums for more info.

Also do well your remaining 3 years and get good letters of rec and MCAT scores ad you have a chance.  If you dont get in then go to a post-bach and apply again.  Consider DO med schools because they accept people with lower gpas 3.3 or so and lower mcats.  Or maybe you could go to the carribean?

    good luck!
