Question:

Is med school worth it?

Is it? I'm planning to go to med school to become a neurologist or psychiatrist. If I do neurology, do you think it's better to be a neurologist or neurosurgeon? Also, is there enough income to pay off loans fast? I don't want to be in debt for too long. I'm also curious if I'll have time for some of my other passions such as literature, philosophy, and physics. Are other doctors interested in striking conversation relating to books, and is there there time to go to a nice restaurant or museum occasionally?

  1. I'm in my final year now and yeah, it's definitely worth it!

It really depends on whether you like med or surg. You'll have a lot of time to decide during med school and internship.

Re debt, you'll not be able to pay it off that fast no matter what specialty you do. If you really wanna make money though, medicine is not for you.

Yup, there are plenty of time to pursue all the things you like do to. Remember that Ron Paul is a ob/gyn.

  2. As long as u get in medschool, u have time to choose either of those during ur general studying years which is first five years of med. I am interested in heart surgeory and want to go to med after transfering to college. Do ur best and i wish we both will get into. Pray for me too friend. If u organize your time u will have time for ur passions too. Dont worry. Hey, u just reminded me of how much i like med school.

  3. ABSOLUTELY!!! Med School is definately worth it. Quite frankly, if I were in your position, I'd go for neurosurgeon, but then that could prevent you from doing other things that you enjoy doing as it is a demanding profession.

A neurologist can also be demanding, but would give you more time to enjoy other things, as would a psychiatrist. GOOD LUCK in your future.
