  1. They are the same thing. Money controls the media.

    Look at Rupert Murdoch.

We used to have the fairness doctrine that granted both opinions equal footing on National TV but the GOP overturned that.

  2. Yes indeedy!

  3. Yes, look at the coverage of the GOP...much different from the coverage of the DNC.

I don't know what the rest of the country is seeing, but last week I couldn't watch anything but the DNC, because it was on every channel. Even BET had it on everyday! The GOP was on 3 channels last night...interesting...what do you mean American media is liberal?!

How about this...news comes out that Palin's family is not "perfect" and every liberal newspaper and tv station runs it as headline news and starts digging for some scandal. News comes out that Obama might have ties with terrorism and there is not much media outcry. Do we see the press proding Obama's intimate ties with Rashid Khalidi, former PLO official and intellectual ally of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Did we see the media prod into his relationship with Bill Ayers? I find it rediculous that the media is in such an uproar that Palin's husband got a DUI 2 decades ago, but they don't really seem to care that Obama might have close relationships with men that support terrorism...

  4. Yes.

I've seen Obama in 5+ magazine covers in the last few months...

  5. Absolutely.

  6. Yes, it is.

The media feels they have the right to pick McCain's VP.

  7. The Media is run by money.  BIG money.  The whole nation is run by big money and greed.

Knowing that, I can't say which is worse. The two go hand in hand.

    You're right - dangerous!

  8. Yes it is!!!!!

  9. You have 5 news channels competing against FOX!  And Fox has them all beat hands down... now WHY do you think that is????? Because FOX is the ONLY chanel you can get BOTH sides... instead of just LIBERALISM shoved down your throat brainwashing you!  Then you have liberals whining about how conservative and full of c**p Fox is just because they aren't shouting "Bush sucks and Hail Obama"!  Biased is an understatement!

  10. The US election system, with it's millions in corporate donations and the media being owned by large corporations, is really not a democratic system at all.  It is a corporate oligarch system, where the candidates are selected and supported by the monies of the few.  These candidates are then beholden to the corporate donors.  So regardless who wins, and we seem to only have two choices, those who contributed the most will always get special treatment.

Both McCain and Obama have called for campaign finance reform, yet they do not seem to practice what they preach.

You can call it democracy, but it is a moneyogracy.

  11. You mention media bias, and then you reference the weekly standard.  Anyone see irony here?  lol

  12. Media is dangerous that is certain.  However, there are sadly enough many ignorant people who hear one thing and roll with it, whether it be true or not.  Those are the people who are the most dangerous and often against change of any kind.

  13. I don't know.  I think the media is taking a gamble on their credibility and I sincerely think they are losing credibility.  People are starting to tire of their c**p and laugh at them.  I have turned to watching just my local news there seem to be little if any bias.

Money = Power but it can crumble as well.

So I am undecided on this question.  Good question though.

  14. Oh please, the media is biased towards sensationalism, which Sarah Palin delivers in droves. And anyone who says Sarah Palin was a good VP pick is completely full of it. I'm also appaled at your ignorance of the influence of lobbyist money on campaigns. You can predict some 93% of the time who will win based off of who has the most money in the campaign. You could never make such accurate predictions based off of presumed media bias.

  15. Neither is the problem.  The problem is that America has devolved into a culture where playing the victim and not being able to think for yourself are the norms.

  16. Yess, because it can cause a candidate like John McCain to beat out President Obama.  Which could then thrust the country into WWIII with Russia, IRAN, North Korea or a combination..

  17. I agree. However, we are getting such a blatant dose of left wing liberal bias media that we can't help but realize it. They are in a panic! The Dems smell defeat and they have done their best to trash Palin and it hasn't worked. Go Sarah! McCain-Palin will win by a landslide!

  18. YES....

Who could afford to promote the same agenda as the "impartial" (ha ha) Press with their constant coverage of a  candidate and how well they like him....and felt "moved just being around him".....

    oh brother....

  19. No the people do a good job of that themselves.

  20. can government officials tell all Americans to shut up?

JUST BECAUSE AMERICANS ARE QUESTIONING SARAH PALIN BECAUSE SHE WANTED TO BE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATE.........

I THOUGHT IT WAS A PUBLIC SERVICE!!!

  21. Media bias is worth about 100-150 million dollars in free campaign commercials for Obama. McCain is really running against the Media Candidate Obama.

  22. Speaking of biased..what about that article.

Frankly, people should know by now that the media doesn't care about the candidates, it only cares about viewers and making money.

  23. its been going that way hasnt it?

and NO campaign can take lobbyist money, its illegal. thats a fact obama keeps leaving out, although he has taken in the most from "special interest groups"

    www.opensecrets.com proves that.

he has taken in more than 14 million from lawyers!!

hmmm, isnt he a lwayer also?

  24. Yes, Faux "news" is not good for the country.  Surveys prove those that get their news primarily from FNC are the LEAST informed than from all other sources.

  25. I agree...that's why I don't watch Fox News....

  26. Yes considering that if we choose the wrong President then our whole country could be flipped upside down. I'd rather be poor and live in a halfway decent country than to be rich and have to walk and talk the way someone tells me I have to. We may be a "free" country but I don't think that alot of people understand the control that our government has over all of us.

  27. Absolutely not.

No matter what your feelings on the media they operate in a free market. If you find one outlet biased then don't watch it. If enough people agree with you that outlet will cease to be profitable, and hence cease to exist.

Donations from corporations on the other hand are Un-democratic. There is no correlation between the will of the people and the influence of corporate money. The very fact that corporations have to influence politicians is evidence that they are working against the will of the people, otherwise why would they have to donate?
