I have just been prescribed Betahistine Dihydrochloride for dizziness that I have had for three weeks following concussion. I have been given the option of taking either one or two 8mg tablets three times a day, with 21 in the pack, so I could take them as a larger dose over 4 days or a smaller dose to spread them over 7 days. Does anyone know which would be more beneficial? Thanks.

  1. i dont know what would be best but i suffer from vertigo (dizzy) not the same thing you are going thru but my presciption says the same thing. i started taking the lower dose and didnt feel much improvement so i took the larger one instead.  so basically i took what was needed.

dont know if that will help you.  i suggest taking the lower first and seeing if you feel better.  if you still feel really dizzy then take the larger dose.

hope you feel better soon :)

  2. it should be taken as prescribed by the doctor. But in my own opinion i think small doses is more effective in a given period of time than larger doses, and i think lager doses is over doses and kind of drug abuse.

  3. Either way, you get the same amount of medication in your body. And over the timeframe you're suggesting there wouldn't be too much (if any) difference in efficiency.
