Is meeting mom a good sign? ?

So I've been hanging out with this girl, we are just friends right now but are leaning more toward dating just based on how things have been going over the past week. She has started to open up a lot more as we've gotten to know eachother and now she has started to invite me when she goes out to dinner with her mom. Does this mean she is interested and wants to see if I get along with her mom or if her mom approves or am I reading too much into this?

  1. In my case, it is normally a bad sign. I like guys to meet my mom so that she can analyze them for me.

    For most people, it means that you are "worthy" of meeting their parents so consider it a compliment :)


  2. Yeah meeting parents is definitely a good indicator that the person is into you.  I wouldn't get all worried that her mom is going to be sizing you up, just be yourself and it'll be great.

Your age has a lot to do with it, because meeting the parents means different things at different ages.  If you are teenagers, it just means that mom probably wants to meet you to see if she approves of you.  If you're older, 20's or so, it usually (not always, but usually) means that she is thinking about marriage, but since you haven't really been dating yet, I'm betting you're younger.  Once you get to my age (43), the parents do not meet the boyfriend unless we are engaged (which isn't happening.)  My mom and my brothers have asked when they get to meet my bf, and I told them they will not meet him since we are not talking marriage.  I don't need that kind of grief, my brothers grilling him and giving him a hard time.  LOL
