Is memorizing the Quran Sherrief madatory in Islam?

The first thing i would like to say is that the quran is not the most easy thing to memorize.

I am also going for the title of Hafith-Al-Quran.

I have currently 30 more surahs to go until i finish memorizing the quran.

Memorizing the quran is not mandatory, but it is rewarding in the afterlife.

I can help you by answering more of  your questions about good memorization techniques that i use.

It also has been like a year since i started memorizing Quran. (I started Ramadan of last year)

I don't have the exact reference but there is a Hadeeth of the Prophet (sa) where he says that on the Day of Judgement, a persons forgiveness will stretch to as far as he has memorized the Holy Qur'an.

So obviously, the more you memorize, the more you will be forgiven.

I'm sure there are many other hadeeth that other muslim brothers and sisters will cite, but this one just came to mind now.

i agree with pinky. you should worry more about understanding and following what is expected of u as a muslim. =]

The whole Quran? No. It will be better if you could because on the day of judgement, the Quran will higher your rank and you will get more reward for it.

However, a Muslim must know a few surats at the end of the Quran, must know the basics as a minimum - Surah Fatiha, Naas, Falaq, Qul huwala, and many others.

Mashallah, may Allah will reward you for you memorising it.

Not sure if memorization is mandatory but I would think that understanding and belief are more important.  Having true faith within and exhibiting it on the outside.

if one does memorize Glorious Quran,,it shall be rewarded by Allah Allmighty,but it is not mandatory.
