Is metallica metal??

Is the band metallica metal? I've been wondering this for some time now. some people say they are, others say they aren't.

there was a time when Metallica was 'The Great King of Thrash Metal' but now they are 'c**k S*ckers of Hard Rock'

they started out as thrash metal and remained that way until the black album came out. after that they became mainstream hard rock.

Well, think in terms of opposite.

Is Metallica Pop? no

Are they rock? Yes

Are they country? no

Are they thrash? Yes, earlier albums.

So, ultimately, Metallica is somewhat metal, somewhat rock,  probably mostly rock.

It depends on what metallica album you refer. So you would never be wrong in saying they are metal.

Compared to today's metal, no not really.  At the time they were big, yes, absolutly they were hard rock/metal.
