  1. lol no.

  2. Natural gas, which is methane, is not renewable because it is generated at a very low rate.

Methane may be created artificially, however.  It is possible to gather methane from rotting organic material.  Gas from landfills and manure dumps can be produced economically in some cases.  As the cost of energy rises, other methods of production will become economical.

  3. yes because cows will keep pooping haha.

And most landfills can harness the power of methane by running pipes through the landfill. Decomposing garbage produces this gas.

  4. Yes. While most of the methane gas use now for energy comes from non-renewable sources it is one of the easiest fuels to make from biomass an if we set out minds to it, could indeed be a great source of renewable energy.

By the way, non-renewable methane is also known as "natural gas" after we strip the ethane out of it. The ethane part is used to make plastics, etc.

  5. Well by Denver International Airport (DIA) there is a landfill that has pipes to catch the produced methane gas. As long as humans keep throwing stuff away, methane will keep coming. So im going to say yes. Not to mention all the cow p**p.

  6. absolutely.  however the deposits of the gas in deep rock or ocean is likely not.

methane gas is caused by the oxidation/decomposition of manures, plant matter, and garbage.  many landfills could become a resource is atmospheric air is injected into the buried mass, and an extraction conduit of the resulting methane gas can collect and pipe it into a burner or boiler.
