  3. used to be

  4. I don't think so because I am not sure if there are states in mexico or not.

  5. Yes, it certainly is. And not even united stateS. you got it right with the d at the end.

  6. The only two official names of "Mexico" are:

Los Estados Unidos Mexicanos (The United Mexican States)

La República Mexicana (The Mexican Republic).

  7. Estados Unidos Mexicanos.

    Yes, United Mexican States

  8. Yes,  states united Mexico

  9. The people who said yes are correct.  i am an american living in mexico.  i have in front of me my FM3 visa...and it says "Estados Unidos Mexicanos,"

  10. wat do u think??

  11. no such thing as the united stated of mexico.

  12. LOL, I've always known that many ppl in USA are VERY ignorant, but I've been laughing soooo much at most of the responses you got..... cuz I just can't believe there are SO MANY d**n IGNORANT PPL AROUND HERE -- and they feel they're soooooo knowledgeable at that!!!!!!! AMAZING!!!!

YES, the name of MY country is ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS, you morons, whether you like it or not!!!!!!! What, you think the name of your country is sooooo cool that no other country could have a similar name???? Hope you learned this now and will NEVER forget it!!!!

  13. mexico is like unites states of america  right

ok so now on the coins it says  los estados unidos mexicanos

    (the united states of mexico)

but its just mexico as far as im concerned

  14. I would say that you're a lot closer than most of the people who seem to think they know everything.  As someone else pointed out, the full name is Estados Unidos Mexicanos.  According to the CIA Factbook, this translates to United Mexian States.  I'm no expert in Spanish, but I think it would have to be Estados Unidos de Mexico to be literally translated to United States of Mexico.

  15. I don't understand why there are answers "screaming" it is not.

The official name of MY country is:

"Estados Unidos Mexicanos", wich translates to "United Mexican States,  "Mexican United States" or "United States of Mexico". I think the first translation is better, and the considered "international translation"

You can see the name in any official paper: passports, embassies, currency. Every mexican coin has the Escudo Nacional ("national shield"?) with the name.

  16. Yes... Its real name is "the united stated of mexico"...

You, my friend, are absolutely brilliant!!!... give yourself a point and consider yourself educated!!!

  17. actually, it's the united mexican states.. or in spanish...

    Estados Unidos Mexicanos

  18. Mexico's REAL name is "Estados Unidos Mexicanos", which would translate into "Mexican United States" (not United States of Mexico), but it was close enough. It is also called the "Mexican Republic", but it used in a bit less formal manner. Then you have "Mexico", which is the common name.

  19. The United Mexican States. Los Estados Unidos Mexicanos.

To the person who said there are two official names, you are mistaken. There is only one official name. There was a move in congress a few years back to change the name to La República Mexicana, but the official name remains: los Estados Unidos Mexicanos.

I live in the most populous of the 31 states, el Estado de México

  20. NO

  21. the answer is....

mexico's full name is 'United Mexican States'

    so... youre kinda right (:

  22. Up until a couple of years ago the real name of Mexico was the United States of Mexico. If you look at a map of Mexico you'll see that the country is made up of states, exactly like the  US. Recently, (two or three years ago) the name was officially changed to Mexico.

  23. it is sooooo funny how many people said no to this.  YES, this is the official name...or the way you translate it in english.  United States of Mexico  (i assume your "stated" was a typo?)

  24. NO! why would it be?? look on any map... it is NOT the united states of Mexico (ha ha)

  25. Si, Estados Unidos Mexicanos.

  26. Lol, no are you high?

  27. For sure! Estados Unidos Mexicanos

  28. Why would you think that?! Um, no, Mexico's name is Mexico, not or never was the United States of Mexico.

  29. According to all of the Mexican coins I've seen, the answer is yes. 'Estados Unidos Mexicanos'.

  30. Estados Unidos Mexicanos.

It translates to United Mexican States, they have 31 states.

So yes you're right, United States of Mexico is pretty much the same thing.
