  1. Absolutely! As a matter of fact, I am currently in the process of shopping for my own micrfiber couch. It is soft, durable and cleans especially well. Leather can scratch and puncture pretty easily, other fabrics may have dye running issues when you clean them and usually need to be professionally cleaned. There are even couches you can buy that have removable microfiber covers that you just toss in the washer on cold/gentle and put back on the couch to dry after you spin dry them. This makes cleaning your couch a breeze and you have the option of easily changing your decor colors without having to buy a new couch. You can even change them seasonally.  Hope this helps.

  2. Yes, especially if you have kids or dogs or both.

Make sure it is protected with scotchgard from the store or you can buy it in stores and spray it on.

Easy to keep and clean then....

And I also suggest ( personal experience) that you re-apply the scotchgard every six months or so... (make sure that does not void your warranty though, if you have it when you buy the couch)...

All you need for cleaning then is a damp sponge or rag.  And if it's something a bit more serious, oxy laundry stain remover works wonders.

    Hope it helps.
