  1. Your age and out of shape has nothing to do with it.  Your children may depending on the relationship with their father or if they have another guardian, but you being deaf in one ear makes you a no-go unless it's something operable.  But the military has been pretty desperate lately, so maybe they will take you.  Talk to a recruiter.  Your best bet is the Army since they're so short of people and the largest of the military branches.

As far as the Post Office goes, they've been cutting back quite a bit lately, and unless you're prior military, your chances of getting a job with them is very unlikely.  I know because I've applied and tested for a job with the USPS and I'm currently awaiting a position, but because I'm ex-military and a disabled veteran, plus a decent test score, I get to the upper part of the list.

  2. I would say no. If your main concern is getting back on your feet financially the military isn't the answer. You could literally make more money working at Mcdonalds than as a private in the army. I would say the main draw (unless you feel it is your calling to go to Iraq or Afghanistann) is money for school.

  3. They really have a problem with single parents.  As far as your hearing loss goes, it would depend on how bad it is.  I would talk to a recruiter.  I am overweight & definitely out of shape & they didn't laugh at me.  Seriously, your best bet is to talk to a recruiter.

  4. sorry but no i think u should not join because that is a lot of time from teenagers to be alone as in the military u need good hearing

  5. Have you tried looking into the post office? They pay hella good and it is a government job

  6. National Guard maybe?

    Otherwise, no.

  7. No. Get back on track by starting with walking every day. As you feel better physically, you will figure out which path to take. Check out all sources available to you financially, job training, etc. Good luck.

  8. You would need a waiver for the ear. We could get you in shape. You would have to grant temporary custody of the teens to somebody to go to training. But all of this can be done.

All this being said I don't know if the military would be right for you. None of the info you provided above tells me rather of not you are cut out for it. If you are seriously considering it though I would try the National Guard first.

  9. Nope.

  10. More information - you're 38 what have training do you have?  What jobs have you had...in the past?   Few answers and I'll respond again..
