  1. it's considered high carb.

  2. I'm not familiar with how low carb diets generally work (do you just limit by the number of grams?), but I believe milk would actually be high in carbs for a low-carb dieter. If you can stand the taste of soymilk, I'm a big fan of 8th Continenal Original Light Soymilk, and I did notice that it has just 2g of carbs for a glass. Those 2g, however, are sugar grams (not sugar alcohols or fiber). I'm not sure what Silk brand's nutritional label looks like, but 1 liter of 8th Continent is generally a few cents cheaper anyhow.

  3. Milk is actually considered a low carb food item.

However, also remember that lactose (the main consituent of milk) is converted to sugars in the human digestive system. Also given that it has a high fat content I wouldn't recommend over-consuming milk.

  4. Milk is divided into several categories: full cream milk (content full animal saturated fat); skim milk (low fat); non fat milk. Milk also has lactose, that can be called as carbohydrate but very low. The main content of milk is protein, fat plus some calcium, vitamins and minerals.

If we categorize the food by macro nutrients, milk is included in protein source group. Not in carbohydrate group. So if you are on low carbs diet, go ahead to drink milk. It is healthy, but be alert because some people allergic to milk. Chose suitable milk that precisely fit to you.

  5. If on a low carb diet I wouldn't suggest it since it is a simple carb.  But if you want to drink milk Hood sells a kind of milk that is called Carb Countdown i believe and it is low carb.
