Question:

Is millet spray particularly bad or good for mice?

Millet spray is a treat that my birds ADORE. Today while my mouse and parakeets were playing, the mouse commandeered the millet spray and would not give it back. I finally got it away from the little bugger, but he was gnawing away at it like there's no tomorrow! I know it is good for birds, and I wouldn't think that it's unhealthy for mice but I just cannot find any information to support my hypothesis. Anyone know about millet in mouse diets?

  1. It should be fine, i've heard of giving rats millet as treats, i wouldn't think mice would be any different.

EDIT: I found this in a google search. Someone's mouse diet formula.

Here is a special recipe for mice and rats that I got from a wellknown Swedish mouse and rat breeder:

3 parts oats, rolled or crushed

3 parts wheat, rolled or crushed

3 parts rye, rolled or crushed

3 parts barley, rolled or crushed

    1 part millet

    1 part flax seeds

    1 part sunflower seeds

    1 part sesame seeds

1 part dry dog food, cat food, unsweetened bisquits or hard dried bread

    So i guess it's good!

  2. yes i feed my mice millet spray and wheat seeds mixed together as a treat every day!!!!!    good luck though
