He is a very promising prospect for not only Pakistan Cricket team but also the World Cricket as well. This guy has really come of age since the time he played Test cricket in Australia and was dropped...

He worked his way up to the top of Pakistan domestic scene and was given a chance against England in the ODI series. He clean bowled Marcus Trescothick in the first over he bowled and since than has not looked back...

He has been nominated for the ICC award for emerging cricketer of the year (Ian Bell went on to win that), but later on Muhammad Asif was awarded vice captaincy of Pakistan cricket team for a very short period of time.

His performance has improved a lot and so has his ranking in the ICC, but he still needs to perform like this for almost 10 more years to be compared with Imran Khan or Wasim Akram. Not yet !

Naughty C has made good analysis about Asif. It may take ten years for one even to think of making any comparison of Asif with greats like Imran and Waseem, but, turning to the question, he does have the potential to become a captain, for which this is not at all the right stage. He just needs to concentrate on his game and we, his fans, wish that he is not lost in the intrigues. He is an asset worth taking excellent care

Asif for captain, this is a bit too early. May be some years down the line Asif may emerge as a strong candidate. But you are right about his bowling, outstanding!!!
