Is mojito the drink of the summer?

Everywhere I go I see mojito mixers and ads for Bacardi Mojito! Have they always been popular or is it a new trend? I haven't tried it yet, are they good?

I live in Miami and mojitos have been the party drink of favor for about 5 years.  They just keep getting more popular as the years go by.  For instance, it is now very fashionable to have a mojito station at upscale events.  So i would say no, the mojito is not the "drink of the summer" but the drink of the decade.

Mojitos are cool and refreshing and the perfect summer drink, and yes, they are very good, especially if you stay away from mixers and use fresh mint- which is a weed and very easy to grow.... they have been popular in cuba and the tropics for ever, and the recent trend is likely due to the advertising and marketing by bacardi!

yes it is a drink of the summer, i believe mimosas are also.

And the bacardi mojito is the premade drink being marketed to compete with smirnoff ice's version.
