I was driving westbound on the Highway 1 (the Trans Canada Highway) near Grindrod, BC. I was driving the speed limit and had just passed a vehicle. I had just merged back into my lane when I hit a massive pothole. It blew my tire which caused me to lose control of my car and ended up in the ditch. My vehicle was not driveable and I had to have it towed home for repairs.

Is there any monetary assistance available from the BC provinical government or the federal government to help cover the costs of the repair? Are they not liable to keep our roads safe?

  1. Every state and country for the past 5 years or so how have complete immunity from this types of claims even if a pothole caused an accident.....

  2. good luck but I think this falls under normal wear and tear, legally speaking.

  3. No way jose, the gov. could care less about you and your car and pot holes.

  4. there's no help here in the states,i don't know about Canada, but here its not even covered under comp insurance, its considered driving hazards, and the county nor the state will cover any damage done to a vehicle by a road bump or pot hole,if they payed out on one claim the entire population would be claiming they have damage from a road, sorry your car got torn up,but you may not get any help with repairing it,good luck.

  5. in the states you're not covered, because it's your responsibility to watch for things in the road.
