  1. You want us to answer a question you've refused to explain at all? Why is that?

Which "present crisis" are you referring to?

What do you mean by "value education"? If by that phrase you mean something like getting kids mindlessly chanting "good stuff! Rah! Rah!" then, no; that would be worthless.

If you mean teaching kids how to THINK WELL about values, then, yes, that would be a very worthwhile thing to do.

  2. What crisis?

  3. There is always some "crisis" that throwing "education" at it will supposedly result in a fix. The other common issue are reports that paces American students far behind that of other nations. Here the 'crisis" is in education itself.

The saying "Those that can do; those that can't teach." too often sums up many people view of education.

In 1956 Sputnik resulted in claims that American education wasn't concentrating enough on science and math. By the moon landings of 1969 the United States was clearly the leader in space exploration. However, students that were subjected to education that emphasized science and math were just getting out of high school.

  4. Moral science is taught in schools and some colleges as well. I believe there should be more emphasis on this to lift up the eroding moral values in our present society.

  5. Nope, education is just a tool to create "good citizens" and I definitely do not think we can save the mankind from the present crisis (whichever you're referring to, be it global warming, increasing of criminal acts, wars, terror...etc.) by becoming "good citizens".

What we need is people who have conscience, capable of taking their own decisions, acting for the humanity while criticising and pointing out the faults of their governments.and this is something you don't learn from books or teachers or propaganda of governments or private companies.
