Question:

Is mouthguard pain normal?

I've just started wearing a mouthguard and I wore it for about 30 minutes during a practice. Once, when I took it off, it felt like something snapped, but nothing did. When I got home to eat dinner, that side was sore when I chewed. Is this normal?

  1. It definitely doesn't seem the right fit for you.

Try getting a smaller one or ask your dentist if he can give fabricate a custom made mouth-guard for you.

You don't want to have mouth sores all the time!

The wrong fit can actually hurt you more during collision or hard impact.

  2. Is this a custom made mouth guard or just the sports one?You might want to be very careful and speak with your dentist. They might be able to adjust the mouth guard to fit better but you cannot take chances that it will damage your teeth. Mouth guards are to protect your teeth from mouth bumps not damage your teeth.
