I've been living in Ottawa my whole life and I really find it pretty boring. I'm 22 years old and I was born in Montreal, but when I was very young, my family decided to move here. I find that it's pretty hard to meet people in Ottawa and it's very depressing here. I would like to know what are the good things that Montreal has to offer? Is it hard to meet people over there? How are the job opportunities?

  1. How good is your French?  What are your interests?  The city is vibrant, multicultural, has a ton of amazing restaurants/boutiques, and a thriving social scene.  While there are plenty of English people, French would certainly help.

  2. Well its not exactly far, you're just an hour up the highway, why dont you come down for a few weekends see if you like it before you make a decision.  I live in Montreal, and I know Ottawa, I certainly can see why a young person would find Ottawa it a bit boring.  But they must be tons of people your age in the University areas.. Odds are if you have a hard time meeting people in a town you grew up in, you'll probably find it the same here...meeting people is about smiling, and speaking up, saying hi, joining things and getting involved.

  3. as long as you are bilingual you will have not much of a problem finding a job, montreal is definitely larger than ottawa so theres more people to meet and more places to see, there are lots of students and young adults and plenty of trendy areas to see, visit before making a decision to move.
