As far as I know names are broken down by region and/or country. Mohammed the most common name for boys in Muslim countries but not for places like England, US, Mexico etc.

I have never seen information not broken down by regioin.

Many believe it to be the most common--check out the links below.  Islam is the most common religion worldwide, with growing populations in the United States and England (where it is second only to Jack) among other historically Christian nations.  Moreover, the largest muslim population is not to be found in the Middle East but in Indonesia.  Given the frequency of use among muslims, all the above implies it would in fact be the most common.  There is one reservation: muslims have a highly intricate naming systems that does not mold to our given/surname formatting.
