  1. It works well in Australia as most of us respect one anothers culture. Of course there will always be racism  bigotry and ignorance but on the whole it works pretty well.

  2. It's not worked out well in the UK. The immigrants that melted into the indigenous culture have worked out just fine, but the ones that drag 'the old country' here with them, with their crappy attitude to women and religious violence have made some places a no-go area for the locals.

Non applicable to Hasidic Jews though. Stamford Hill is a brilliant place to live. They're polite, quiet, never burgle or mug, and there's always a bagel bakery open at midnight.

  3. A nightmare!

  4. Multi-culturalism : = the lowest common denominator?

The idea is a misnomer. Universal Tolerance would more accurately pose the desired attitudes. This presupposes that respective groups have a sincere humanistic and indeed a religiously grounded love of the fellowship of humanity.

Civility and mutual respect can only be so founded.

Fundamentalism and unreasoned faiths are the enemy.

FAITH AND HOPE ARE IMPORTANT, fostered by LOVE

  5. I think if we all forgot religion & tolerated different cultures we would get on.Has it is & I am guilty of it.The cultures are too far apart  especially treatment of other human beings & animals.

  6. It has worked well in Golders Green.

  7. Unfortunately I believe it is a dream unless the culture's share basic religious beliefs & gastronomical preferences.  The human mind is hardwired to fight or flight when threatened and when it comes to 'mixing different breeds', we still see that as a threat to our race/religion/territory's survival, which usually leads one wanting domination over another.  In the wild it's called the food chain, the strongest over the weakest.  We give it fancy names but it comes down to who ever has control over food, water, shelter and resources dictates the rules!  Differences are 'allowed' until we feel threatened, then a slew of rules are put into place to ensure the continuation of the dominant 'pack'.

  8. I don't know, it's life, so u decide how it affects u

  9. neither. Reality. 2 thumps up muingha

  10. Its evolution in the making my friend :)

  11. It`s the same with Communism, a good theory but unworkable.

  12. A nightmare.

I'm not a bloody racist. I like other cultures, and travel a fair bit around Europe, but when you mix up cultures you have to make compromises and take elements out until you end up with a pale imitation of the actual culture that leaves no one happy.

Look at it this way: walking through Bradford is absolutely nowhere near as culturally engaging and pleasant experience as walking through an actual Islamic city.

  13. Ever been to Miami?

Last time I was there I dragged a friend to one of my favorite fast food joints....Pollo Tropical for Jerked Chicken and Fried Yucca.

The place was packed, like a McDonald's at lunch time.

The manager was this 6'4 Jamaican....British accent and all.

The lady that took our order was Dominican, black and with a French accent.

The guy next to her was Brazilian, I could tell because he was speaking in Portuguese.

The kids next to us had these raving Brooklyn accents and were ordering like old pros.

There were four elderly Cuban ladies behind us dressed to the nines.....which is tough in Florida....WITH their chauffeur in tow.

One of them dropped a piece of paper and I bent down to pick it up for her.

She noticed my sunburned shoulders and proceeded to whip out a bottle of aloe and put some on my shoulders.

    Multi-culturalism is not a dream.

It's a current reality.....and a very nice one at that.

Americans have always been a multi-cultural society.

All one has to do is look at American English.

    I am a Monaghan...Irish.

    My friend was a Staats....Dutch.

    I ate jerked chicken....Caribbean.

    I ate fried Yucca.....Mexican.

I paid with dollars....a Dutch word.

We were in a restaurant...a French word.

We were in Miami....a Native American word.

In the State of Florida....a Spanish word.

We drove there in our automobile....a German word.

I'd say we were pretty multi-cultural already.

It's only a nightmare to people who fear.

Don't fear something you already know.

  14. Multi-culturalism is a pitiful attempt to maintain  divisions  among people for the political advantage of a few.  If you are going to live in the UK or the US, assimilate.  That will make you part of the population that provides the best opportunities.  It is fine to treasure the customs and language of your country of origin, but ridiculous to cling to ways that prevent you from relating well to the people around you.  Here in the US, the melting pot concept allowed generations of immigrants to live the American dream.

  15. I would say its a social experiment that ignores the cultural differences between people!

  16. It is good if peopole thought out of the box more often.

    E.G.

-RELIGION IS A SCAM, GOD IS NOT.

    - The subject of aliens should not be laughed at.

-People should unite as one to be in control of themselvs not controlled by a small group of powerfull people with personal intrests.

    - Being able to go through your everyday life without feeling the need to ruien someome elses spitefully.

If people where able to think open they would find it so much easyer to find a common ground with there fellow race members, the HUMAN RACE.

  17. its already happened m8

    wake up!!!

  18. Both, humans will never truly achieve multi-culturalism and if we do, it will never be what some had hoped for.

  19. it's a NIGHTMARE.

and no, i am not being racist,

every culture wants to dominate and have every thing their own way.

so multi-culturism then becomes a conflict of interests, and that's when the troubles start.

whatever happened to the old saying,

WHEN IN ROME, DO AS THE ROMANS DO.

  20. Do you think if we didnt have different cultures/races to pick on that we would eventually turn on each other . could be anytghing like the colour of your hair / clothes etc.

  21. It's only a nightmare for those who are intolerant or selfish in their mindset.

it's a dream for all who are open minded, generous and accepting of others regardless of differences.

So I guess one has to make up their own mind. As for me, I say a dream that has become a reality.

  22. its a reality... that people can make a pleasant one or a bad one.

but the fact is its with us nonetheless.
