Is multiculturism fundamentally flawed?

The british are probably the ultimate mongrel race, having absorbed everyone and everything they have seen as worth while over the ages.

Why should we respect other cultures? We have already taken the best bits and absorbed them into british culture...

Yugoslavia was a prime example of multiculturalism.

Is Britain multicultural, or have English ways been supplanted by Pakistani and West Indian ways?  I'm told St. George's cross is no longer flown in taxi windows because its considered "racist".
