  1. Um well yes. But who exactly would be hurting her? I'm suspecting that she doesnt have a rash or that cold air would be bothering her bum. Something is definetly wrong, because this doesn't seem normal. I've got 16 month old twins and they seem to like diaper changes, they are even curious about "down there" but I have to swat their hands so they do touch that. Anyway yes I would be concerned. Talk to her pediatrician please about this.

  2. if you think something is wrong take her to get checked out....I don't know much about that age but maybe she might be ready for potty training?? Or ask her mom about it, ask her why she doesn't want you to change her??

  3. Well theres a chance that she just doesn't want you changing her diaper. But from what you say it could be a sign of sexual abuse. Look for rashes(other than diaper) and more signs that she is. If you find anything else try to figure out whos behind it and bring your evidence to a childrens service. If this is happening it needs to be brought forward, its sick and wrong.

  4. It could be a sign of sexual abuse.  It could be that she's got such a painful diaper rash she doesn't want anyone to touch her, or that she hates cold diaper wipes, or was feeling cold.  It could be that you once hurt her by accident, or that she was just fussy that particular day.

    Don't downplay your fears.  See if it happens more than once.  If it continues to happen, it is time to talk to her mother about what you have seen, and see if she has noticed the same thing.  Just casually say "The baby keeps freaking out when I go to change her.  Does she do that with you?"  The answer might help you both to figure out what is going on.

  5. I've read questions like this so often now I truly believe it's just a normal thing toddlers go through (perhaps it's a sign that it's around potty training time? idk).  anyway recently one mother was advised to check the diaper for blood, check the baby for signs of bruising around the groin/upper thigh and compare her reactions to you when you're actually changing her with her reaction before when she's reluctant to see if she recoils from touch etc.  If she calms down once you're cleaning and changing, it's probably just a phase.

  6. hmm i would be concerned....i have a 2 yr old... and i have looked after plenty of kids... if she's acting this way she is obviously scared your going to touch her there or "hurt" her.... have you asked her whats wrong? She might say "no hurt me" or something... definately be concerned.

  7. to me THAT is a good sign she needs to be seen by a doctor.

    PLEASE take her immediately! to be seen; it may just be a urinary tract infection, which is painful.

  8. Not necessarily. Maybe she just doesn't want to have her diaper changed? My son would go through stages where he just point blank refused to allow me to change his.

  9. I know it is hard not to jump to the worst possible scenario with things like this, but she may just be going through a NO phase, or this may be a sign that she is ready to potty train, or it may be painful to her due to an infection. Next time she does that try asking her why she doesn't want her diaper changed, even though she is only 2 she may be able to give you some insight on it.

  10. I have children of my own and if it was me i would go and get her checked. It may be nothing but its better to be safe than sorry. She may just be going though an awkward stage but if you believe something is wrong and dont get it checked and it turns out something had happened how would you feel

  11. my son is two and he's doing the same thing. I have to run around the house chasing him just to put his diaper on.

    I she was molested there would be other signs.

  12. It could just be that she is developing a sense of privacy and doesnt like being changed by someone other than the parent. My 3 year old wont use the potty in front of anyone except for me and my mom.

  13. Maybe she has a urinary tract infection....I know my little niece use to get them a lot and it would hurt when she wet her diaper and when my sis in law would wipe her. She hated getting her diaper changed!

  14. My son went through that stage, and happens until now, the reasons are different and so are the handling.

    Like my on, she might encounter some possibilities:

    - she does not like her diaper (I changed to pull up diaper from then onwards, it's more comfortable for him);

    - she got rash from her diaper (I changed to different brand);

    - privacy (at certain time, he only want certain ppl to change diaper);

    I do not think it is a urinary tract infection as it has nothing to do with diaper change. Kids with this infection usually refuse to pee by crossing legs etc but crying out to go to pee.

    Cleaning the area is a must for (baby) girl. Teach her to do it herself would be a great advantage in this early stage.

    But, if you suspect sexual abuse (you must have a good reason to suspect this thing), then you should do something about it. Prompt.

  15. it is a possiblity ---- however , keep in mind children have phases they go through . my son went through one where he wanted to be naked and didnt care who saw him then he went through one where hey dont look at my private area thats gross... she is 2 it could  be a phase , talk to the parents about her ask hey i noticed when i changed her diaper she like freaked out... has she been doing this with you or what is up... there answer will let you know.. just watch there faces that will give it all away.. but i would go with a phase
