  1. dont give her rice in the milk like the other posts suggest, doctors advise you dont do this for a reason. my little bot was a hungry baby and we had to put him on hungry baby milk from about 3 weeks old, the health visitor was fine about it and he settled right down to 4 hourly feeds and slepy through the night by 13 weeks. good luck x

  2. my baby is 8 weeks and for the past 2 weeks I have been giving her 5oz every 3-4 hours during the day.  If she shows signs of a feed before 3 hours, I either try to distract her or give her cooled boiled water in case she is just thirsty.  If i give her a feed before the 3 hours, she only takes 2-3 oz then I have to feed her again in an hour or 2.

  3. I hope you don't mean you have her on cow's milk??? You should only feed your baby formula until she is a year old, no cow's milk, no wonder she is hungry. There are not nearly enough nutrients in that, even if you are mixing it with formula. She can get very sick. I hope you only feed her formula and she will eat a normal amount.

  4. Don't give her cereal as she is much too young for anything other than formula!!!

She is probably wanting to comfort suck. Offer a dummy/pacifier after a bottle and if she seems to be wanting to suck earlier than 3 hours after a bottle.

  5. put a tablespoon of rice cereal in her milk that should fill her up. Dr's don't recommend feeding baby food until there 3months old but I did it and it helped my baby

  6. My daughter is eleven weeks and i remember when she was six weeks she seemed to develop "hollow legs". I fed and fed her...she is on Cow and Gate as well and was taking a bottle with 5 ounces every 2 hours for about a week and then it leveled off again.SHe put on a pound in a week put I was advised that was fine.

Hang in there...just one week...and hey sleep is overrated anyway:))

    *Big Hug* and God Luck

  7. That seems normal to me. You could try the hungry baby milk though, to give you a bit of a break I used SMA white with my 1st and she did well on that. Please don't put baby rice in her bottle, its a real choking hazard, especially for a baby so young.

  8. My baby is 9 weeks old & when she was about 4-5 weeks she seemed to want to eat that much too. I thought maybe I was going crazy or overfeeding her (but SHE was wanting the bottle, I wasn't forcing it on her). She ended up having a growth spurt & went from 6lbs 2oz 19 inches at birth to 10lbs & 23 inches! I panicked & felt horrible like I was feeding her too much but he doctor said it's perfectly normal especially since she grew 4 inches as well. That can't come from overeating!

  9. At 6 weeks they go through a growth spurt, it should taper off in a week or so.

  10. I fed my baby donkey milk that had the same problem.

    the doctor recommended it

  11. It's not unusual...feed her on demand...look on the packet of the hungry baby formula and see if she is too young...it isnt unusual...DONT add rice cereal...see all the thumbs down the person who suggester that got? They did that for a good reason.

  12. EDIT:     first off .. ur looking at a very hungry baby... i breast fed for 4 months in total... and then after that i gave her enfamil formula the genlease kind.. it helps babies with fussiness or gas.. it is wonderful stuff.. and i gave her 8 ounces everytime.. she slammed it... babies arent supposed to have cows milk until they are 12 months there body cant handle it... also she isnt getting the proper nutrients.. she needs them vitamins and minerals formula provides... get u some formula.. if u cant afford it check out ur nearst WIC (women infants and children) they will give u coupons for formula from the grocery store.. it saved me tons!!!!

first id give her 6 ounces so it is not too much or to little and she was still hungry so i gave her 8 every time... people pitch a fit if it is not gone about putting it in the fridge after they drink out of it but it dont hurt nothing as long a u dont leave it in there past the date.. dont throw it out if it isnt gone ... it is a waste of money .. also there isnt enough time to get all kinds of bad bacteria in there n e way... just make sure u put it back in there immediately...

she will go through phases where she flat out wont be hungry ever and others where she will pig out... were talking about growth spurts...

also s***w a feeding schedule i did that at first.. and yeah i gave up... the baby was hugry when she was hungry not when i wanted her to be hungry... listen to her she knows what she is takling about..

the first year i just let her lead the way... the baby knows better than us...  so if she wants it give it to her she knows what she needs, it is her instinct too  :) congrats tho... got n e more questions. feel free to ask

RICE CEREAL MAKE A VERY DRY STOOL FOR LIL BABIES AND THEY WILL MOST LIKELY CRY IN PAIN, WHEN THEY TRY TO GO TO THE BATHROOM,  it'll break ur heart if u do that..

  13. i would say go onto hungry baby milk i recommend aptimil feed her every 3 hours even if she does not cry, then at night give her a last feed at 11 until she wakes up when she is used with the hungry baby milk add half a spoon of baby rice to her bottle. The health visitor told me not to do this but it is the only way I got my son to take regular feeds and sleep through.Do what you think is right.

  14. I think it's quite normal to be honest, my son was having 6 oz every 2 hours at that age and the health visitor said it was ok. I started him off on cow and gate but found that SMA filled him up a little more, and it was even better when I was able to move him onto the hungry baby milk SMA

  15. hi this happend to my friends baby and when she was 6 months the baby was the same as a 1 year old case she feed her on demand

if ur conserned i would vist ur doctor or helth visitor

  16. At 6 weeks old, babies feed alot. Yes, this is normal. Both of my kids ate every 2-3 hours when they were that little. If your baby is taking only 4oz every 1-2 hours, you can try giving your baby a little more that way he or she isn't wanting to feed every hour. Try 8oz and maybe that will keep your baby fuller longer that way you won't have to feed your baby as often. If your really concerned you can ask your pediatrician.

  17. give her 6oz every 4 hours, make sure you wind her well

  18. My son ate 4 ounces every 2 hours at 6 weeks old.  As many have said, growth spurt...and they seem to happen all the time!  Just feed her when she's hungry.  My doctor told me that babies will stop when they are full.  Just make sure you don't wake her to feed her (doesn't sound like that's an issue right now) overnight.

I'd consult your doctor before changing formula.  I'm not sure what cow and gate one are, but as others have said you should be using formula.  I have an idea that you are from another country where that might be a formula brand or something.  Please do not do as someone else said and do formula unless your pediatrician says to do so.  I also hear that you should never put cereal in the bottle.

Again, whatever your pediatrician says is what is best, so consult them.

    Good luck!

  19. Don't switch her formula. Six weeks is prime time for a growth spurt. She may be feeding more and sleeping more in the next week or so. She may even be especially cranky for a little bit. I'm guessing after this hungry, tired, fussy period you are going to look at her and she is going to look huge.

Just continue to feed her on demand as often and as much as she wants. She will start to taper down in the next few days (week at the most).

  20. my daughter ate like a horse the moment she poped out. spoke to her doc about it also he sugested just a little bit of baby cereal in her milk. we gave it a try and it helped out a gret deal. some kids are not happy and full with just milk. but wil a little of that added to it. she ate more normal slept a heck of alot better and made her happy. i did not go and take it upon myself to add it to her milk i got the ok from my doc first. as you should also do. each baby is different. my doc even sat with me and showed me how much to add and kept an eye on her as i fed her in his office to see how she reacted and also had me bring her back several times to make sure she was doin ok.,
