Question:

Is my DVD player going out?

I think I got my DVD player in 2001 maybe 2002, I'm not really sure. Up until recently it was working just fine, But lately it keeps skipping. New DVDs, older ones, rental DVDs, they've all been skipping lately. DVDs that just a few months ago played just fine, now skips and stops while playing.

The warrenty ran out LONG ago. I'd hate to spend a alot of money fixing it, when I could just buy a new one or about the same $.

I've got one of those cleaning DVDs and ran it about a dozen times recently but it didn't help. Is something wrong with it or is it just going out?

  1. Since it's on all disks it can only be one of two things.  Before buying a new one try using a laser lens cleaner first.  It's normally a CD you run through that cleans everything and you can get one for $10.

If that doesn't work then your lens is bad so you might as well buy a new one.

  2. Its probably just "going out."

    most older appliances do that.

I would suggest just buying a new DVD player.

You can find a nice one for $30.

    Hope this helps =]
