Is my EFC code too HIGH?

I recently completed the FAFSA and my EFC code was 4322

What does that mean and am I not eligible for a grant?

  1. The cutoff for federal Pell grants for the 2008-2009 school years is $4,041 which means yours is too high for pell grants, but student loans are always guaranteed unless you do not qualify based on grades, or you have defaulted of a previous loan.  However, there is a good chance you could have completed the FAFSA incorrectly which could have caused a high EFC.  If you were not chosen for verification by your school, I would request one to be done in hopes that you may have just made a mistake.


  2. You are probably eligible for a grant by somebody. Just give it time and you'll hear from somebody. Don't feel bad, my EFC was 11,727
