When I bought her I bought 2 other female betta's as well. I bought a red female that was very aggressive. A blue female that was semi aggressive and a white female that was outright friendly! The red and the blue ones died kind of quickly and now I have only the white one but she is so friendly you can reach in the water and stroke her back! I never new beta's could behave like this. She even know's when I am changing her water and let's me net her. Why is she so different? I would also like to know how old the betta's are that are sold in pet shop's? I heard betta's can live a long time and I believe the white one was fairly younger than the other two. All info is appreciated so please explain thoroughly.

  1. I had a red/pink betta that would swim up to my fingers and suck on them if I put them in the tank.  I would cup my hand in the water and she would swim into my hand, she was the sweetest fish ever!! I'm not too sure how old they are when pet stores get them but depending on how well they are taken care of they can live a few years, the one i currently have is about 2-3 years old.

    Good Luck!!

  2. Shes just intelligent and friendly.. as bettas should be! :)

I wouldn't pet her though. The oils in your hand and the stroking is not good for her. No fish really likes to be pet.

  3. Female Bettas can live over 5 years with excellant care and I've heard of 10 but that must be very exceptional, but they should do well for over 3. Keep them warm, low eighties with regular water changes. A good mixed diet and try to include some live foods. You should also help clean up food that the Betta misses.

No - I haven't heard of any other Betta's that let you pet them, and allows you to net them. You're really lucky and that's really cool!
