Is my GPA high enough?

Hello! I'm studying a in a university in Lima, Perú but I want to get transfer to NYU. Is my GPA ok? it's about 3.22, hopefully it'll get higher this semester. I'm still in the top tenth of my class and I think the highest GPA is about 3.7.

On paper, your GPA looks too low, but if a 3.22 puts you in the top 10% of your class, that's a different story. In that case, you may be able to get into NYU. However, make sure they know that you're in the top 10%.

Talk to NYU admissions about the student visa process. They can help you through all that.

Naturally, because NYU is a very competitive uni to get into, I want you to also have some backups. Schools that you also really like, for in case you don't get into your first choice.

You cannot transfer from Lima Peru to NYU just like that. First you need to apply which I believe you GPA is too low and then apply for a student visa. Without a student visa from the US government there is no way you can attend NYU. If you have been given a student visa you will have to secure your own funding for tuition, living expenses, health insurance, and related expenses as you would most likely not qualify for US student aid.

In countries where grade inflation is not as high as it is in America, such as Canada, the UK and likely Peru, the required GPA to attend universities is lower (for American schools or for those who are not American applying to overseas schools, where Americans need higher GPAs)....

Research on your own about the student visa, I believe you are correct about the visa being something you apply for after you apply to a college, that would make more sense hey? Because you are coming from Peru, you will likely have to take an English test and many of your credits may not be recognized. Talk with someone directly at NYU, but I believe that with your GPA you should have a good chance (basically a 3.22 in countries outside of America is equal to a 3.8-4.0 in America).
