i just bought a hermit crab about a week ago and the second day i thought it had a missing leg. today i got a better look and noticed that u was missing but there was a bud there. it seemed as if it had happened about a few weeks before we bough.

he seems to be fine though, he walks around, digs holes, eats, and is now getting used to being help (somewhat lol) it doesnt seems like its bothering him at all, he seems happy

  1. well then i bet hes just fine its like when a dog has only 3 they dont mind it do they so i guess its all good

  2. Your crab will be fine. If he is acting fine, he'll be fine. If he starts acting sick, put him in his own tank unless you only have one crab which I dont reccomend.

Your crab WILL grow back his leg, In a couple months or sooner he will "molt" where he sheds his skin and possibly regenerates his lost limbs. When your crab is preparing for the molt, he will eat and drink lots and become less active. His eyes will appear cloudy and you may think he is dying, when the time comes, he will dig and bury himself in a hole, DO NOT DISTURB HIM IN THIS TIME. He needs to be alone and the handling could kill him. You will see he is alive because every couple night he will come out and eat.

    Good Luck!
