ok i got an ipod nano like a year ago as a gift. I checked it out but it wouldnt charge. I already had an mp4 player so i just put it in the drawer. well last week mine broke and I have about 48 hours of train rides in the next few days. I tookout the ipod and it worked great, charged it, put a whack of songs on it, turned it off and put it in my bag. # hours later it wont turn on. What gives? i get to a internet cafe to charge it, and zippo happens. Did I get a garbage ipod or is there something im missing?

  1. YOu didnt happen to flip the hold switch on did ya? That would prevent you from using the buttons. Also its possible from setting that long that something may have gone bad with the battery. Lithium batteries are kind of a use it or lose it thing, that is if it's not used for a very long time. They can go bad from the lack of use but I wouldn't think that untill you try out simple things like charging it again or turning it on while its pluged in and then unpluging it to see if it stays on. If it doesn't and you know it was charged then I might start suspecting the battery. Try force resetting or force shut off (the same thing) Hold the menu and up button at the same time untill it shuts off and then let it restart on its own. Holding the play button untill the screen goes blank is only sleep mode. A restart might give the OS a kick in the pants.

  2. hrmm... try to re-set it (hold down menu + center button until the apple logo comes on screen) but if that doesnt work then take it to a genius at apple

  3. try to reset it by holding down the menu and center buttons.

maybe its just a bit weird.

if that doesn't work, go with what everyone is telling you.

go to the apple store and they can help you fix your iPod.

  4. i have the ipod nano too (the silver to be exact) and i have the SAME problems! i think its just a bad model, my friends and i have both had SO MANY issues with ours, i've about had it and looking into buying the ipod touch (too bad its expensive)

if you can afford it buy a new ipod or take it into the apple store to the genius bar and see if they can help. i just gave up on mine. good luck! :)
