Is my Motherboard damaged?

My cousin was installing a 8800 gt graphics card on my Vista 32-bit

Hp pavilion. I had new power supply put in. The mistake he made was not disabling my integrated graphics, so he removed the new power supply, leaving the 8800 Gt running and connected to my motherboard! I immediately heard a high pitch sound, afterwards i could not get a signal from my monitor.

The Cpu would not start up fully, the graphics card still seemed to be running.

Heres my specs:

3gb ram

AMD dual core 5000+

What exactly could have been damaged?

the CPu fan could not initiate a Full startup speed (Wasnt as loud) , i did get the light on my startup button to turn on, but no signal from my monitor

Im currently using my old PC,

thanks in advance

cheers

  1. Is he insured for loss? because he burned up your motherboard and fried your power supply.

  2. The onboard video does not have to be disabled. The mobo will auto recognize when a PCI/APG or PCIe video card is inserted and auto turn off the onboard video. You can not remove the old power supply without turning the computer off ou have to physically remove the connector from the mobo which will cut all power to the board adn all cards and if you tried to remove the psu while running you should not be on a computer at all. Try removing the video card and see if the onboard goes back to the boot video. Thanks
