  1. He does not appear to be a purebred Netherland to me at all, he looks to be mixed with another breed.  They generally are full size by 6 months of age.  I would recommend neutering, when rabbits reach maturity they can get territorial and aggressive, they are often less friendly than they were previously, and male rabbits if not neutered usually spray urine to mark their territory (smelly, messy and gross!).  The recommended age for neutering is usually 5-7 months with a rabbit.  Good luck with your pet!  For good information on keeping a pet rabbit, check out this site, it's great when you have a question or just want to know more about your new friend: http://www.rabbit.org/

  2. He doesn't look purebred to me. Not only because his ears are long, but they are also not of the right shape, and his body type is not that of a Netherland Dwarf. Even the "false dwarfs" are usually proportional as a dwarf, although they are larger than the smaller, show rabbits.

A purebred rabbit usually comes with a pedigree, which is like a family tree. While breeding purebred rabbits, you can get rabbits that look a little different and just don't fit the "type" you're looking for. In this case, the rabbit is sold as a pet without a pedigree so that it can't be bred. However, they will still resemble that of their more showy siblings.

This guy just doesn't look purebred to me, or if he is, he is poorly bred. But that doesn't mean he can't be a GREAT pet! It sounds like he is a wonderful bunny and very friendly, so you should be very happy about that. Not all show rabbits have the awesome personality that he does!

  3. He could very well be a full blooded Netherland Dwarf.  It is common to get a "False dwarf" out of two full blooded, regular sized dwarfs.  These false dwarfs often max out at 3 pounds, and have ears that reach 3 inches in length.  They are usually very very sweet, and not nearly as high strung as a Show quality Netherland Dwarf.  I've never neutered a buck yet, but it would probably be best to get him fixed before he gets to the spraying age!

  4. Does that even exist??????????????
