Is my New York State driver's license valid in the UK?

I was hoping to buy a Mercedes SLK or C-Class in the US but I'm here visiting family at the moment. I want to try out the cars over here and just place the order back home. Is it possible to arrange a test drive with my NY license or drive the car for a couple of days in the UK on it?

No, If you want to drive there, you need to get a international Drivers Liscense.

We go to europe every year and drive a car and never have to get a UK (or EU) drivers license.
