i want to boot LINUX BT3 on my USB drive but don't know if it will support booting were, can i find out if i can boot with it or were can i find a USB that can boot

  1. First Step:  look up the mobo at the manufacturers website, or if it was a made to order pc (Dell, Gateway,...) look at their support forums for how to boot from USB.

    Second Step:  then, you need to transfer the linux image to the drive in a bootable manner.  There needs to be a boot sector on the drive, apart from the Linux installation.  Other forums will have more information for that distro.

    Really, it isn't too much work.  A google search turned up a few people who were able to do exactly what you are describing, at least for the second step.


  2. I'm pretty sure that depends on the motherboard / laptop you're using, not the flash drive itself.

    You normally have to go into the BIOS and set the boot device to USB (if it is supported.)  It will just treat the USB device like any other bootable device.

    Of course, the operating system you put on there (linux BT3 in this case) should be able to write itself to the drive first.
