Question:

Is my SAT score "good"?

Okay, I got a 1940 on my last SAT. These were my individual scores:

Critical Reading - 630

Math - 670

Writing - 640

I know these scores aren't good enough for an ivy school, but are these scores okay in general? This was the first time I took the SAT, and I know I can do better, so I am taking them again, but I was just wondering what other people thought about these scores.

  1. I got a 2110 (720, 680, 710) and everyone said it was good. Try getting everything up to 700 and then you'll be in the right place for Ivies. Good luck!

  2. whats the highest possible score you can get? Only then can i judge whether you've done well or not.

  3. Yes obviously. They r good for any state uni.

  4. yes, its good enough.

  5. It is borderline r****d. LOL

  6. yes thats a very solid score.. i got an 1820 but i got like a 50 percentile in my critical reading. that was your first time so youll do even better next time and when you get in the 20's thats pretty d**n good.. soo yeah. you're set to go to many places with a good/solid gpa

  7. They're very good, though, you're right, possibly not enough for an ivy school unless you stand out very much in other ways.

  8. It is very good. It comes to a 1940. If you want a 2000, you just need to increase your scores by twenty each.

Good luck on your next try.

  9. yea

  10. good for 1st time. 700+ is ivy, though.

  11. The average total score is approximately 1,538 points (520 in Math, 510 in Writing, and 508 in Critical Reasoning). The more competitive schools are looking for 2010 and higher.

An example of one Ivy Leage College:

    Harvard: SAT Critical Reading: 690 / 800

    SAT Math: 700 / 790

    SAT Writing: 690 / 780

I think your scores are good. You could take them again and see if you score close to the 2000 mark. While most colleges take the SAT's into consideration--they also calculate your GPA (whether you are in advanced placement classes) as well as extra-curricular activites.

    Good Luck

Check this site that lists a good deal of colleges and the SAT requirements (this was prior to the Writing component)
