I just upgraded my saltwater fish tank from a 55g to a 100g. My eel was usually hiding and would come out every once in a while or to feed. NOW.. he is all over the place!!! in this bigger tank he swims and swims. it looks like he is swimming and playing. he does enjoy swimming in the current. the only reason i have any concerns is because this is so different from his previous behavior... do i have anything to worry about?

  1. He is just REALLY happy. you've made him happy with his new space. he is absolutely fine!

  2. This is normal. My snowflake eel stays out and hunts through the live rock for the crabs I put in for him to eat. Most people who see my tank comment on the eel being out so much. I guess when they have what they need, they are more prone to stay in the open. Good for you.

  3. No, absolutely not. The reason for his new behavior is because he loves the extra space that has been given to him. When eels constantly hide it and are lazy, they usually do not have enough space. I am very happy to hear your eel loves his new environment. Good luck to you and him! :)

You will always notice when you upgrade tanks, your fish become way more active! They enjoy it quite a lot.
