  1. no. it doesnt matter if you got your special ed credentials from Yale, or from the community college down the street. You have job security....kids need you.

    Good for you for making it through school. You will have no problem finding a job... your education is fine.


  2. Honestly yes... but it might not matter.

    The director of special education talks down about the program and we have a small district and hiring is competitive so that degree is less likely to get an interview unless there is some good experience/ references.

    That being said in general there is a huge shortage of special education teachers and the previous district that I was in had a large need for credentialed teachers and would not skip over anyone's application with a credential.

  3. There is a severe shortage of SPED teachers all over. Project confidence in your interviews and a willingness to work with teachers and be a team player. Talk about your passion for working with kids. Research the district's profile and type of students before you interview and talk about how your experience would benefit them. Once you get your first job, no one is really going to care where you went to college. They will only care about your work experience.
