Question:

Is my TV antenna connector compatible with my setup?

In my apartment I have an antenna hook up in the wall with two screws for two wires. I have a 75 ohm connector that converts the two wires into a coax connector. I have a RG-59 cable that connects the 75 ohm connector to the antenna input on my HDTV. There is no signal and I'm not sure why. Any help would be appreciated.

  1. That's the proper way to hook up that kind of set up.  However the old two wire "twin lead" style hasn't been widely used in about 35 years.  My guess is that the antenna hooked to those terminals has either been removed or is in such disrepair that it doesn't work well anymore.  Check with your apartment manager.

Another thought, make sure your set is set for "antenna" or "terrestrial" and scan for channels again.  If it is set for "cable" it will not catch all the Over The Air signals that may be available.

I hope this helps.  Please return and select a Best Answer from all of those submitted.
