Question:

Is my TV possessed? How is this possible?!

Hello:

I recently moved and when I connected my large screen TV to cable it began to act very very strangely. This is so bizarre, I don't know what to make of it. I don't hear any sound on some channels, I hear sound on other channels only during commercials. Some channels speak Spanish (don't understand a word of it!), others talk like a radio program or something when there is in fact a movie is playing!

The strangest of all, when I connect my small portable TV to the same cable slot, it works perfectly, like a normal, English-speaking TV! I take it off and connect the large screen and the exact same program is on either in Spanish, or there is no sound at all or one of the strange things I mentioned above.

Did this ever happen to anyone? Is my TV possessed or have I moved too much and am losing my mind?

Thanks!

  1. It sounds like you have the SAP on.  SAP is a secondary audio channel that allows TV stations to broadcast another language over the video.  That is why you hear Spanish on some channels and no audio on other channels.

You may have a button labeled MTS or SAP.  It was probably was hit by accident.  Just press it again and you should get normal audio back.
