I have a 93 new yorker

every time i roll down my window, flip my blinker or step on the brakes my voltage regulator dips down and if i have air blowing in the car it decreases and my headlights dim.... the abs pumps are bad on those cars anyways *recalled* but ive had it replaced within 2 years time, granted it sat for a year after the tranny blew out but that has since been fixed and has been acting up since i have a new battery and im just wondering if its my abs pump again or if i need a new alternator???

thanks

  1. I vote alternator

  2. Take your car to Sears and get your battery and/or alternator tested free.

    Good Luck...

  3. try this, while engine running disconnect one of the battery terminal, if the engine stop the alternator has a problem.

  4. alternator. By design the alt is supposed to provide enough power to run anything on that car you might care to run... leaving the battery for its main job , starting the car. Dont wait too long to get it checked... these can go bad at the drop of a hat and leave you on the side of the road.

  5. sounds like the alternator man...
