My dad has known that I have been depressed so he offered to buy me a videogame.

If you are depressed, and if it affecting your daily life, it's time to go talk to the family doctor.

Video games don't usually help depression.

Don't be angry.  Your dad, like most men, doesn't know how to deal with emotions.  He wants to "fix it" but his way of doing so is to buy something.  tell him what you really need is to talk to someone about your problem.

yes, because he didn't try to find out why you were depressed. he tried to fix things without even trying to understand your pain.
