my little boy is 6 months old and sleeps in his own room and sleeps right through the night, currently he sleeps in a summer tog baby sleeping bag and wears a vest and babygro to bed, although its summer his room is quite airy, even though there are no windows open or fans on - the nursery thermometer on the wall reads between 18-21, his head feels clamy as hes quite a sweaty baby, but his temp (taken by a beechhams digital head thermometer is only around 36) is this ok do you think?

  1. Any higher then 37 indicates he is unwell.

if he's 36, he's in the perfect temperature range :)

  2. If your baby is sweating, you are overdressing him and he is too warm.

Dress him cooler, please!   sounds like you have wayyy too many layers on your baby.  If baby gets too warm while he is sleeping, he is at increased risk for SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome).  Also more likely, babies that are overdressed are also prone to rashes.

If a baby gets too cold they will cry and wake up dont worry!

  3. go in the room for a little while if your cold then hes cold and put more on him

  4. At night while sleeping, it's normal for a person - including babies - temperatures to drop a little.  A good way to judge is whether a normal person would feel comfortable.  As long as his skin doesn't feel cold, he's probably just fine.

My son sleeps in a full long sleeve sleeper during the summer and I also throw a light blanket over him.  If  they are too cold or hot, they will wake up and cry.

  5. if he was too hot or too cold he would wake up and being fussy...he is probaly just fine

  6. If he feels clammy then he is too hot...remove the vest. Far better to be cooler for babies than too hot.

  7. My baby sleeps in just a sleeper - no blankets, no vest or sleeping bag....

If your baby is clammy, there is a chance he is actually on the warmer side...I agree with the person who said to take a layer off....better for him to be a tad cold than to be too warm.
