Question:

Is my battery dead? ?

I just spent about 1 1/2 hour cleaning out my car - oddly enough to get it ready to sell. I turned the car on just enough to listen to the radio for the whole time I was out there (the engine was not on but all the electricity was) and now the car won't start. It just clicks but the electricity still comes on. Do you think I drained my battery or could it be something else? Will I have to jump it in the morning or should it start up on its own? Thanks!

  1. turn on the key and then push the car. Jump into the car and push 1st gear and the car will start by itself.

    run the engine for 5 minutes and it will be fully charged.

    After you start the engine, take the bactery out, the car still can run. Did you know that?

  2. You should try hooking the battery up to a charger. Try starting it after the charge.  If that doesn't work you might have to take it in to have the starter, battery, and alternator tested good luck

  3. Sounds like you drained it past the ability to start point.  Your cable connections at the battery may be dirty.  Get them cleaned, charge the battery and post the "FOR SALE" sign. Contrary to popular belief, an alternator will not fully charge a dead or low battery.  It is designed to keep the vehicles elecritical system working while running to keep the battery from going dead.  Only a battery charger will fully charge a battery.

  4. it happpened to my aunts car i kept the radio on for like 2 hours and the car wouldn't start u need a jump start with the wires from another car i think or maybe u just need a battery change {i'm 15 so i don't know much}

    hope i helped

  5. Battery is junk.  It should have handled 1.5 hrs of radio and dome light.

  6. have your battery tested and your alternator tested

  7. yep, that,s what you did, drained the battery. with the doors opened and the radio on, it drawed the juice out of the battery. if your going to listen to the radio, you need to start it up once in a while.

  8. ...........................................

  9. If it doesn't start now, it wont in the morning. I dont know of any battery that charges itself overnight. Sounds like you need at least a battery.
