I have a male betta fish, and I'm pretty sure he's sick. There's a layer of sludge-ish slime-ish substance on the surface of his water. His fins are all clamped together, and there's white things floating around his water.Help! Is he sick?

  1. Might the fish have fin rot? I have a betta and i noticed his fins were eroding almost,he seemed pale and there was a white coating on his body.I went to the pet store and got a water conditioner with aloe vera to help him heal faster.

Edit:My fish seemed to be sitting more often on the bottom of his tank.I just assumed it was more difficult for him to swim around because of the fin damage. You should seek advice from the people at the pet store asap.

  2. Well Beta fish tend to blow bubbles around the top of their bowls and it can look gross and sludge like but it sounds like you need to clean his little home.  Go into your local fish supply and talk to someone knowledgeable so they can explain how to go about changing the water and you'll need to pick up some chlorine remover/ water conditioner to assure the new clean home will be safe for him to reside in.
