Question:

Is my bikini waxer bad at her job? If you have them done regularly, read on and give me feedback.?

I've only had a Brazilian done twice in my life. The first was at a cosmetology school, and the most recent was at a local spa. Ironically, the waxing done by the student was far less painful than the one done by the girl at the spa. It was extremely painful, because she didn't know how to pull the strip clear without it getting stuck (if you've had this done you know what I mean). She would then stand there and yank on it multiple times, making it feel like she was taking my skin off with the hair. After she was done there were tons of stray hairs that she'd broken off too short to catch in the wax, and it looked terrible. She acted like this was my fault (she said I have uneven hair growth because I'm part Latina) and said that she'd get those with the wax next time. I had bruises all over, something that didn't happen the last time. To make the experience even more uncomfortable, she didn't clean the wax off of my skin and it took a whole day and three showers to get all of it off. When I left, I felt like she thought I was a freak or something for wanting to get this procedure done. I know many young women like myself who have this done every month or so, and both my husband and I like the results. Do easthaticians privately hate doing this job, and if so why would they go into the field. What should I look for in a good bikini waxing experience? Thanks!

  1. Don't do it.  Leave your bush alone.

  2. YES we hate it!!  There are plenty of other areas of esthetics however we do enjoy, that is WHY we go into the field.  Not so we can wax labia...  You got to take the good with the bad I guess...  Personally, I'm not waxing anyone down there, it's gross, I do myself and that is IT...  So don't be shocked that people don't like having to do it, a lot of time their bosses require that of them, however if they want a decent tip I suppose they would try harder...  I really don't know what to tell you to make your experience better, brazillion waxes suck for us who are in the field, you will get some people with attitudes about having to do it, as well as some people who actually want a good tip and repeat business who will suck it up and deal...  But please don't be shocked for a moment that we don't like it, many of us have been subjected to the nastiest of nasty on women down there, so yeah some of us are bitter about it...  Surely there are areas of your job you detest??  Would you like having to do that??

  3. a few pics would be helpful   :)

  4. Wow!  I would call the spa and tell them about your experience.  They need to know she's so bad at this, and you should get your money back.  It often hurts, especially the first time, but there should be no tugging or bruising, no wax residue, and no blaming you for bad results!  I'd try another spa or go back to the school.  Most people have much better experiences.

  5. That experience you had at the spa was not normal (or good)

I would try and find a spa or salon that does this very frequently-

ask the waxer how often she does this-

I am living in Brazil now and have had it done 3 times here, it wasn't too painful, never bruising, and usually a pretty good job.

the girl that does mine does it all the time, and on men too!!! (I guess

    someone has to do them)

keep looking for a person you feel comfortable with - and good luck!

I would also complain to the management of  the salon with the lady who left you bruised about her poor customer service and lousy and painful job.
